Before Michael Jackson became the "King of Pop", he was once a part of Jackson 5. It is a band formed in 1964 consisting of Michael together with his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon. They are managed by their father Joe Jackson and were signed by Motown Records in 1969. They are known for their loud fashion, large Afros, and snappy choreography. In 1970, the Jackson 5 became successful and gained fame for their top pop hits including "ABC", "I Want You Back", "I'll Be There" and "The Love You Save". However, the group decided to disband due to some issues and pursue their solo careers.

Despite his death, Jackson's popularity did not fade. In October 2009, a documentary film titled "This Is It" was released. It is a compilation of more than 100 hours of footage for Jackson's scheduled 50-concert comeback engagement. In the same year, the 14-minute music video of his song "Thriller" was the first music video to be inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.
